Instagram may soon get this WhatsApp-like feature

Meta-owned service Instagram is testing a feature that will allow users to turn off read receipts in direct messages. Mark Zuckerberg and Adam Mosseri made the announcement but did not provide a launch date. Read receipts let senders know if their messages have been read, but some users prefer privacy or not feeling obligated to respond immediately. The feature will likely include a toggle, but may not work with vanish mode messages.
