Gemini could be Google’s big bet to take on Microsoft and OpenAI

Google will launch its next-generation AI foundation model, Gemini, capable of generating conversational text and imagery, for integration with Google Docs and Slide and chatbot Bard in autumn. Google merged two AI teams under CEO Sundar Pichai earlier this year to accelerate the development of large language models like Gemini. Sergey Brin, the company's co-founder, attended more AI meetings at the Mountain View headquarters and collaborated with a team of researchers on the AI model.
